Tar snakes, an interesting concept. In the great state of Louisiana we don't have that problem. That would indicate road maintenance is taking place. We much prefer to throw cold patch off the back of a slow moving truck and call it good.
I read here that someone changed the type of tire they use and that seemed to help. Can anyone speak to that? Which brand of tires work better? - Thanks
I can tell you from experience that when riding on the OE Dunlop 402 tires the bike wanted to follow every tar snake. When I switched to the Dunlop Elite 3 it stopped. I wouldn't believe it if someone told me. But I proved it to myself. I also have a Dunlop 407 up front and it seems to be just as good. I went through this on my FLHX and I also did the same when I had my Dyna and switched from 402's to Metzler 880's.

So Dunlop 402 = garbage. In my books.
I'm running E3's and still feel them on my Ultra...
Yesterday, with the temp around 95, I was going through the gears and ran over some. Bike got a little squirrely. First time I felt that on this SGS. That is a weird, uneasy feeling.
Hey Kub, I see I'm not the only one who's been to the Gay Bar.
This was in Felch, not far from home(in the U.P.)...has since been repaved.
Damn!! That road would even be nasty with my TriGlide.
Also, beware of road gators! They can sneak up on you quickly at night. They can also fly from the adjacent lane, and cause you to have to change your shorts. Oh yeah...and call the paintless dent remover guy.
Was coming home on July 7th..After watching a great fireworks show. The time was 10:30 P.M ....Pitch black dark going around a familiar twisty..was doing only 20 or 30 mph..Had O.L. on back next thing ya know...The rear end of my 2012 Limited starts to get squirrel y..Been riding over 30 years...I put my right boot down to catch both of us..After regrouping my blood pressure and checking my drawers all is well. Kept on putting home and trying to feel if my boot heel is still on boot or left behind at that flipping tar snake. Kept kicking my boot on foot rest thought boot heel was gone. Got in garage cleaned drawers out heel still there. Holy crap look out riders in the dark for them Flippen tar snakes WTF ???
I know it's a natural reaction to put your foot down bit try and keep them on the floorboards. Putting them down is a good way to break an ankle it twist it real bad. I learned that in Police Motorcycle riding school. Keep them on the boards always and they will be safe even if you go do
