Default Tar Snakes

Was coming home on July 7th..After watching a great fireworks show. The time was 10:30 P.M ....Pitch black dark going around a familiar twisty..was doing only 20 or 30 mph..Had O.L. on back next thing ya know...The rear end of my 2012 Limited starts to get squirrel y..Been riding over 30 years...I put my right boot down to catch both of us..After regrouping my blood pressure and checking my drawers all is well. Kept on putting home and trying to feel if my boot heel is still on boot or left behind at that flipping tar snake. Kept kicking my boot on foot rest thought boot heel was gone. Got in garage cleaned drawers out heel still there. Holy crap look out riders in the dark for them Flippen tar snakes WTF ???

Tar Snakes and Paint on the road ... Two Very Slippery Substances. I've always thought they could "sand" the tar after squirting it two feet wide and twelve feet long on a three inch long crack.

The hazards of being on two wheels escalate tremendously once that sun goes down. I try to avoid night riding. Glad you're ok.

Glad you made it out okay! The road outside our neighborhood was probably 85% tar from patching and 15% asphalt. My neighbor called before we were leaving on a ride. He said he didn't know if he could go because he felt his rear wheel sliding and thought there was something wrong with the bike. I rode home that day on my bike and as soon as I hit that stretch of road my bike started getting squirrely.

I immediately recalled the call from my neighbor and let him know his bike was fine it was all the tar. Needless to say we talked with the city, and within 30 days they had the road repaved. I don't know if it was coincidence or if it's because we said something, but it sure is a whole lot safer leaving home again.

Again, glad it worked out, but those snakes can make you soil yourself or expedite the aging process. Be careful, especially as it gets hotter!

I hate tar snakes almost killed me luckily there was a concrete center divider on the freeway to save me. I get goose bumps every time I see one.

Glad you kept it up....I would have had to come straight home and CLEAN DRAWERS...better yet, might have had to throw them out after that..and start over..
Those things are so way to common everywhere...
