i have 2003 ultra can i put a shovelhead on it one of the new ones that would exept delphi or am i dreaming not happy pressed crank want dependable
two up riding love the bike got it the way i want it

What stuff are you on?! Any new engine will cost a great deal more to buy than it will cost to make your current engine bullet-proof. Or you could replace your TC with an aftermarket bigger one, with lots of reliability and a great deal more performance. I don't see any benefit of going back two generations of engines, new or not.

that pressed crank should be good up to about 125 horsepower...or a stage 4 motor. a trued and welded crank is probably about a thousand bucks plus labor if you just have to have one.

I love Shovelheads Have had four in my life, But they are not as dependable as a TC or an Evo for that matter ! Just me.

that's the right answer - I don't even think an entire EVO/5-speed FLT combo will fit.

I can see the OP getting a welded crank with good old fashioned Timken bearings if he is worried about longevity. but sometimes people read too much on the internet and invent problems they don't have...
