I've seen some on eBay, and some are not so cheap, or at least not what I would have expected. Got a specific seller or brand on eBay that you'd recommend?
Try this guy, I bought derby covers off him last year. He has primary gaskets for $18 and kits for around $30. Sorry I don't know why I was thinking about derby covers when you asked for a primary gasket but he does have good prices on both. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261166277135...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

the primary case could be slightly warped or have a gap between the surfaces.
get a Evo "paper" type gasket from the indy shop.
the evo and twincam touring can use same primary gasket.
the steel bonded gasket cannot deform enough to fill a gap, the paper can.
cometic, james etc etc.
$15 or so.

Exactly, I've had mine off half dozen times and just replaced it since I didn't want to push my luck (OEM gasket). It sealed up just fine like the last half dozen times. I had a warped primary cover on my 98 DWG and used a thicker cork gasket which worked just fine. Perhaps a cork gasket might remedy the problem.
