Just bad timing..... I think not. Something was done wrong. I hope the op figures it out before he goes for round number 2.

I was pretty sure I had the flat spots on the oil pump bearings lined up on the flat area of the crankshaft but I guess there is a chance I may had been off just a bit but as I said, I had double and tripled checked that step. To me the only other possibility is the oil pump bearing was worn or had some type of hairline crack in it and when starting it up with little to no oil in that area for a couple seconds, it just failed. It was just one tooth on one of the bearings that broke. The bike has a little over 38,000 miles on it. Those are the likely scenarios to me. I appreciate everyone's inputs. I also hope this thread helps someone down the line.

Got the new oil pump installed and everything else except the exhaust. With the plugs out I turned the motor over and within 10 seconds the oil pressure gauge started showing pressure. Looks like everything is back on track. Will finish up tomorrow and take it for a ride. Thanks again for everyone inputs. Defiantly a lessoned learned in my first time doing cams on a Harley.

I did and fortunately it was within tolerance.
