Not sure what you mean by that?

Ride planner is mapping software just like Google maps.

Ride planner runs in your web browser, and you map out your routes very similar to the way you do in Google maps.
Then you can export the route to your Garmin GPS

I use my phone for music and GPS and have my phone mounted on my bars. I dont want to add a standard GPS unit. I can use google maps for navigation.

I've been route planning with Garmins for a long time. I used to use Mapsource and was not very happy when they discontinued it. I have a 660 now and when I first started using Basecamp, I hated it. I watched all the videos on Youtube and read everything I could find and the more I use it, I hate to say, I am starting to like it. There are a lot of tricks and shortcuts that make using it easier and like a lot of other things, the more familiar I become with it, the more I like it.

This is true true statement for me as well. That's why I suggest that since the OP has not worked with other mapping software that he learns basecamp. Especially if he is using a Garmin GPS unit.

I agree. If you have to learn one anyway, it may as well be the one that your GPS manufacturer supports.

I have had a 660 on my bars for 30,000 miles over the last few years and had NO problems with it whatsoever.

You can load the HD route planning software on your Android phone and it will link to the Harley Davidson route planning software on PC and use it as a GPS without google maps.
