Your best bet is to try the local dealer and see if they have any used bikes with apes that you can sit on and get a feel for what you want. I know last time I was at Ray Price in Raleigh they had a couple and *** HD in Asheboro had at least one king with bars, pretty sure they were higher than 12's though. Won't hurt to go look?
I went +4 on both because I got so tired of reading the million posts that said...you can use stock, you can't use stock, you need +2, +4...no you don't...you need this if you re-route. So I said the heck with it......went +4 on both and I'm sure I have some slack in my fairing but that's OK.

I just installed Wild1's 502 on my '13 King Classic. 12 1/2 in high and great quality. Added 10 in to wires, 6 in to brake and clutch. +4 clutch cable would be best. Very convertible. Careful when pulling wires, lube well, I'm now replacing TGS because I pulled too hard.
They have the complete kits with whatever height or type of bars you want. The easiest and best way to go rather than trying to figure out all the cables, hoses and wires to buy.
Thanks guys. I have sit many a bike with different heights. For me...10"-12" are perfect. I wanted to do the job myself to save a few bucks, but If I need to get new cables, I might as well get my local indie to do it.
