FLHT Dash Question

On the dash (the piece below the chrome gas cap cover) is that black piece a plastic insert or is it a decal on metal? Thanks in advance.

Black plastic with an adhesive on the back...simple to replace. Peel out the old, and stick a new one in its place. I've changed mine out twice.

the plastic insert is just a piece of plastic with adhesive on the back. it can be removed by simply getting under a corner and peeling back. i removed mine, cleaned all the adhesive, and installed the flame insert. piece of cake!!

On another note, I love your user name and avatar. Was watching late night cable tv one night and stumbled on that movie...Still can't believe Sean Connery was in that flick. Some of those lines are classic..."The ***** is bad, the gun is good".

Thanks again. I want to glue something to it so Im going to use a little dab of RTV silicone for it. "Now go forth and kill."

Here is what I put on my dash - it contains all 343 firefighter names + 3 retired FF's that were working at the Twin towers the day they
came down.... When I ride, I feel I have 346 souls riding with me..
