I have not noticed the hostility previously mentioned, I visit both sides of the Isle, As a new Rushmore owner I do appreciate having a separate section where Rushmore specifics are discussed, for Instance Infotainment system updates and Issues, water head Issues, Recalls and so on.
NEVER made any sense to separate it from other Touring...
The Forums are Sportster, Dyna, Softtail, Touring etc...
The Rushmores are still touring and the engines are still TwinCams
They should be in the Touring TwinCam areas... and let everyone make their jokes between the new rushmores and our old Classics (-:
All ridiculous from day one. They are all Harley Davidsons. Should have never been any animosity amongst any of us. I'd like to think we are all brothers out on the open road doing what we love. You know when I get a wave from another Harley rider out there I really don't think he is paying that much attention to whether or not my bike is a "Rushmore" model. I'm just another fellow rider on the road. Nor do I concern myself what model their bike is when I wave back. Ride on. Peace Brothers.
Been on Harley's for a while, but this is my first Touring, which just happens to be a Rushmore RK. I find the separate section helpful for reading about new model issues, but I would agree that they're all Touring, just like all the Softails, Dynas, etc.
I see no reason for a separate section, other than to support HD's effort to convince all of us that we must dump our pre-rushmore rides. I do not believe our forum should carry HD's water in that way. I also believe there are fewer differences between 13-14 than 08-09. Better to have a capable search function and large section than to have a zillion sections.
I distinctly recall some members of the touring forum complaining about all the "Rushmore problems that don't apply to my current ride" and suggesting that the moderators set up a new section "for Rushmore owners." I enjoy all facets of this forum most of the time, and visit more than just the "touring" section or the "Rushmore" section. I sincerely appreciate the effort of many of you to help solve problems for new owners, for posting "How to" notices complete with photos, and for just generally sharing real world Harley Davidson information that is not available to me elsewhere. I don't post often, but have gleaned a wealth of knowledge from reading ALL sections. I recently traded my year old 13 Limited with 27000_ miles for a 14 Limited. Love it, and loved the 13 as well. By the same token, wish I could afford one of every model HD makes. As long as it's a Harley Davidson.
