I'm a nube here, but the main reason I signed up was that you had a easy way to find info on the '14 ' s.

I'll be buying new within the month and this was a great place to gain knowledge.

I still read the touring forum too, but it's nice to pick and choose.....for me anyway as time is valuable to all of us.

I think it was necessary when the bikes were first released but now that they are commonplace, the hype is over, and we're moving on to another model year the touring section should be re-consolidated into one forum. I personally don't think the bikes are different enough to warrant a separate forum. But that's just my opinion. I'm usually in the touring section posting but only browse the Rushmore section to see if anyone posted anything really significant then I'm gone.

I read both sections and know how to use the search function. I'm fine with combining or leaving separate.

A couple of things come to mind. To paraphrase...

Any person who would 'bash' another for owning something as innocuous as a particular motorcycle is not someone with whom I'm interested in having much interaction. I'll pass them by every time, and keep walking (figuratively if not literally). Such persons represent a character that doesn't desire, nor will it accept, education. These persons are secure and content in their ignorance and stupidity.

Two people can view the same thing but will focus on different features such that each experiences a very different take-away. 'Truth' is not singular, nor is it often 'whole'.

When these two observations are taken together, it results (for me) in not taking a lot of what goes on on the Internet with much more than a grain of salt.

"A good man should not be too vexed by the commerce of fools".

Not many people with pre-2014 bikes would care about "infotainment" issues, "wethead" issues, etc. I'm fine with the separate sections, no harm, no foul!

Its a pain in the *** having to read two touring forums, I have a 2010 CVO Ultra and am interested in the Rushmore bikes, I like reading about all Touring bikes, now I have to try and keep up with 2 different forums.

If I want to ask a question whether anyone has put 2014 saddle bags on their 2013 or older bike, where should I post that?

The touring bikes should all be in the same thread and merge the 2 together, IMHO

I like the Rushmore section and would like to see Rushmore oriented threads moved there.

Plus 1 on what he said. FWIW I agree

I remember a lot of people complaining about all the posting about rushmore bikes in the touring section and my guess is thats why they separated them. I now own a rushmore and there really aren't that many differences. A lot of mods that I've done was by using parts from pre-14 models. Some required small modifications and some wouldn't work. I think they should recombine the sections now that the new has worn off. A lot of people are going to want to know what parts will interchange and if not what modifications would be required. I know when I was in the softail section guys were very willing to help with advice on how to modify parts to make them work on different year bikes.
