There are enough differences that it makes it helpful to consolidate the Rushmore specific material. I think this is all it comes down to. Do you want to read about hydraulic clutches, water leaks in the cooling system, the new fairing, the radically different head unit and audio system, . . . .? If so, then take a look at the Rushmore posts.
Exactly, if you want to learn about the Rushmore's one or two clicks of the mouse and you're there and learning, no secret handshake or password required!
Looking at it now I think we are all loosing. I think the Forum is suffering. I've felt a large disconnect with HDF this season.
I voiced the same concern when a Rushmore forum was first discussed. It was and still is a bad idea, primarily because it fragments communication. We now have the same topics discussed is two different forums.
Maybe some weren't around when the new section was created or maybe some have short memories, there was lots of animosity towards the Rushmore owners and it started long before the new section was started. One of the reasons the Rushmore section was created...just sayin'!
I think most of the 'vile' comments and 'hatred' are intended as 'ribbing'. I've made a couple of comments on the 'Fugly' myself, but never meant it in a mean-spirited way. If any 'Fugly' owners out there took them that way, then get over your insecurity!! LOL!
That's cute. I don't think most RG owners are insecure. Just the opposite...
We knowingly bought a bike that about everyone loves to poke fun at and we're pretty much fine with it.
My point is... the batwings get a widdle mail slot all of sudden mixed with a huge amount of great improvements and some older model owners can't stand it (the mail box) and poke a little fun and as a result a whole nother sub forum is made to host to 2014 owners. I'm certain there was more to it than that but honestly HD has released big changes in the past without needing a new sub forum...
On the flip side it's always Open season for any knucklehead on a vespa to say anything about a RG, pretty much welcomed like it's a secret handshake, and no sub forum is ever made to protect the poor little RG owners.
As a result we have another full website because HDF wouldn't make one for us. Not that we EVER asked... but it is nice every once in awhile to be able to hang some place where every other post isn't a slam of some type. Gets kinda tiring. I think the 2014 sub forum guys know what I'm saying.
I dont get the reason for having it. I see posts in the regular tour section that is specific to Rushmore, yet they dont get moved there.
Actually they do. I've seen a number of Rushmore topics posted on the Touring forum, and they usually show up in the Rushmore section eventually. So, good job mods!
On the topic - I can't relate. I think it's just another resource for those who own, or are considering a Rushmore bike. I haven't personally seen any non-Rushmore bike bashing there. Why would anyone do that? A Rushmore owner falls into one of 2 categories. He/she either had a pre Rushmore or the 1st bike is a Rushmore. If the former, why would you knock a previous bike that you probably enjoyed enough to keep you buying Harleys? If the latter, why would you knock a bike you haven't ridden? Sure, Rushmore owners will defend their decision when someone stops in to knock the Rushmore bikes. But what else would you expect?
I likeit. I'm glad it's there. It's hardly an exclusive club. Anyone can join.
→B/c I had spent so much time studying the Rushmore's I was spending some time in that section. They were all BETTER than the rest of us. We were all jealous. Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, one heck of a brotherhood!
Typical forum behavior....
I belong to several forums. All of them have a certain percentage of people who own the vehicle because they perceive it as a badge of success or taste or power. They don't own it for the vehicle, but just for some imaginary status.
Every time someone points out a deficiency in their vehicle or questions it in any way, "they are jealous".....
Try reading the corvette forum if you want to wade through inflated egos... it's a great car, but it's just a car!!
Even the RAM Truck forum has those who act like the truck is actually an external reflection of their private parts!
In the end, I just ignore the posers.... but they do get annoying....

Well to be honest I bought a Rushmore because I'm better than all the non-Rushmore owners !!!
In all seriousness I can see why the section was created because there are some unique issues with the Rushmore bikes but now I think the two sections should just be combined. Make some Rushmore specific stickies and merge them...
I say combine them, a touring bike is a touring bike. I like to read about the new models as well as the older models. As already mention in this thread, should we have separate Road King, Street Glide, Electra Glide not to mention Road Glide forums?
I never could understand a lot of the bashing and flaming that goes on in any forum. If you don't want to see the oil, slip-on or a thread on a Rushmore model, scroll right on by and don't click on it.
