Harley makes extended foot board pans, I just installed them on my '12. They move the board location forward about 1 inch. Next I need to order the brake and shift levers to get full usability of the new pans. A few other companies make brackets that move your stock pans forwards. They simply replace te factory bracket system. I figured I would start with the pans and if I needed more room I could always add the brackets later.

most common seem to be
1. longer floor boards HD or aftermarket
2. Kury floorboard relocator 90.00 forward 1" and out 1"
There are a few other products that will do it. keep in mind you will alos want to extend the brake and shifter . 6'3" with size 14 boots and found the Kury relocators and a seat that moved me back 1.5 and down 1.5 did the trick
I also recommend the kuryakyn 1" out and forward. They help me get my right leg off the air cleaner too. Softbrake pedals are a good addition as well. Be aware not all models will clear hard lowers. I have the 1" extended Softbrake which do hit the soft lowers I occasionally use which is not a big deal. I found the lower angle also moves the pedal forward and for my use the standard model would have work just as good with the Kury boards.
I found no need for extended shifters. I just found a more ergonomic position by adjusting their positions on the splines then fine tuning by adjusting the linkage.
I have the Kury adapters that move them out and forward 1". They were on my bike when I bought it and although I probably would not have purchased there is they were not on the bike they seem to work fine.
On my last Road Glide I did not have these and scraped the floorboards quite often but with these I don;t recall scraping them at all. It seems front head pipe seems to be what hits the ground first for some reason.
Another option out there is V-twin Goodies which moves the boards out to the sides 1" but not forward and you can use them in conjunction with the extended board pans. http://www.vtwingoodies.com/
I highly recommend Drag Design's Footboard brackets. Night and day difference in comfort. When I ordered them I was a little nervous (I'm only 5'10) that the movement forward would be too much, boy was I wrong. I finally feel like I'm sitting on the bike correctly! My legs are now actually comfortable instead of feeling like I'm hugging the gas tank with my knees in the air. They are also angled a couple degrees more giving you more feel of your feet being planted (while being forward).
I just installed the Kury adapters on my 14 SG last night. Not enough of a difference for me at 6'2" but some improvement is better than none. I still feel as though my thighs are more parallel than I'd prefer. Highway pegs will be my next purchase.
