with the new dual compound tires from dunlop (2010 and up), i got 20,000 out of mine. there was still actually a lot of tread left, but the front tire had cupped so i just changed them both out. don't know what kind of mileage i'll get on the cvo, only have 8k on it so far, but tires are still good.....

I got similar wear....17,000 on my dunlops and I'll probably go another 1K before I change them ('11 uc)
No doubt mileage varies by rider and conditions.... Like I stated, best I ever did was 9 k on a rear. That was on a road trip to California from PA. Both the Harley tire and Dunlop American Elite about the same, and Metzler a little less. When just riding around here....lucky to get 6 k on a rear. If I could get 12 k, I'd be stoked. No doubt they are expensive.
Ok, let me get this straight. You rode the useful life out of the tires, but expect new for free? It disappoints me that a career military man would be that dishonest. In my experience, tires last around 10,000 miles or so. Am I missing something? To purposely destroy something seems wrong to me.
Well thanks to everyone that pretty much called me a liar and a thief. I am at 12,300 on my tires and they are starting to dry rot between the treads. I am going to try using the Dunlop 6 year warranty that they offer. I have not rode the useful life out of my tires, they still look new. I ride on flat land with minimal curves, that's why they are not worn much, age has got to them. I don't see how you think its free, the price will be prorated thru Dunlop and I pay for installation, or I have to pay a 50 deductible, so either way its not free. I have seen a few posts here where riders "pick up nails" and I don't see anyone calling them out. The tires have not got nails yet and if they do I have to live with that. I paid for a warranty for a reason. Anyway, not tryin to start a pissin match. Stay safe everyone. Thank you for all that have helped.
I can't speak for today's esp wheel and tire coverage, but when I had it, it was free. The $50 deductible was for other repair work, not tires. Maybe it changed.
If Dunlop can cover the dry wrought....good deal. It's not my place to judge you and I for one was not trying to start a ****' n match either.
As you said...it's your choice. Just one I couldn't do.
Where does it end though???? I pay insurance too. If I get stone nicks in my paint, do I push it off a cliff and say it was stolen? If my roof on my house is wore, do I burn it to get a new one? Not me....but others can do as they see fit and live with the consequences.
I know....I know it's only a tire....
Peace be with you....and I DO mean this...
Thank you for your Service.
Yes, it changed. I just renewed my ESP. Originally there was zero deductible on tires, now $50.00. As for milage, at 12k back tire still looked new ( front tire replaced by dealer because of cupping at around 10k ). 17k now, tread depth still in the green. I dont believe ESP will cover your problem, it is road hazard coverage. That should be the tire manufacturer. Hope they do right by you ... they should not be dry rotting at their age.

I read the dunlop warranty and it sounds like you should qualify with no problem. a few guys locally had tires splitting open with the same model year as you and they got replacement tires with no hassle. some will just call it normal ozone checking and pass it off....tires are the only thing that comes between my bike and the road and I think they're pretty important too. Especially around Ft Stewart. Lots or eyes reflecting from the headlights at night, no telling what gonna run out in the road. Alligators, rattle snakes and coral snakes and thats just on the greens at the golf course, then you've got the wild animals...
