Had the same issue on my 2013. Stater and voltage regulator replaced under warranty. This would happen only after the bike was ridden about 25 miles and then sat and idled at a stop light. Battery checked out fine (I keep it on a tender every night and ride it every day). The said the plug between the stater and the regulator had a few pins that were burned.

This was at 19K miles. It's been about 4000 miles since this stuff was replaced. We'll see how long it lasts. All is well thus far.

When it was coming back on, it was time to check the code that was stored there. After a certain number of starts, the code will disappear whether or not the problem was fixed,

I think that new regulator will solve your problems. I had the same thing happen to me - my bike was outside the serial numbers for the recall so I had to wait until the bike stopped running because there wasn't enough juice to run the fuel pump and electronic ignition before the dealer would believe me.

I see. Maybe I'll have em run a quick check on it and make sure nothing is wrong then. Thanks for the info. I was not aware of that.

VR died at lunch today. Again.... This replacement will be my fourth. The 1st was from the 2012 recall and that one died within a couple months Warranty replaced that one (I upgrade it to the chrome version) now it has died as well. Still under warranty so I guess I'm Ok, but I'm really thinking of going aftermarket. Is there a "good" manufacturer for VR's out there to consider.??

Maybe its not your V/R! Maybe find another mechanic to look at it. Since its under warranty, try another dealer. 4 V/R's in 2 years, there is something else wrong, and someone is not catching it.
