Default Passing Lamp Bracket Torx Screw

I'm getting ready to remove my inner fairing to have it painted next week. I am not sure of the correct torx or star head size I need to remove these screws. They appear to be the same size that are used on the saddle bag guard rails which I tried to remove awhile back and ended up breaking a t-40 on it. I checked a HD website that list the screw as a 5/16-18 X 1 TORX pan hd. What size do I need to remove it. I added a photo of it for a visual.

The same gorilla must have put mine on also. I could not get one of those suckers loose on the saddle bag guards before I busted the bit. Guess I am off to find a better T-40 bit. Thanks for the help guys.

Also trying using a hand impact (the kind you hit with a hammer) on it to loosen it up.
This has worked for me in the past

+1 on hand impact driver...a bit of vibration and shock down the threads sometimes does wonders!

If you dont have an impact a rap square on the head with a hammer can work. I think the threads tend to weld themselves together from oxidation, especially from rain or hose washing. A little pen oil wouldnt hurt either.
