I was thinking of trying the FL-Vied's with head pipe to remove the cat, screaming eagle intake and the stock mufflers. Anybody else running a similar setup? Feedback?
Bought a pipe off of ebay for my '13 ultra limited, bought the air intake from amazon and put the xied on. I love it and have been running it for about a year. stock mufflers.
I will not change it and it moves out pretty good.
No heat issue for me or my passenger. RPM limiter is the only thing that I don't like but I don't hit that too often.
I did this same setup on my 07 softail and loved it too.

Sounds good, I have the same bike. I want to lose some of the heat on my right foot, and maybe get a little more pep, without a lot of noise. It's a touring bike, the power is adequate, and I like the quiet of the stock mufflers. Although I guess it'll be a little louder without the cat.
My MPG was affected by about 2% ( 44 mpg stock, 43 mpg stage 1 w/ xieds).

Just curious...I've seen that you've mentioned your MPG with these before, but is this based on your (uncalibrated) odometer or via GPS? If uncalibrated, your odometer is off by about 5% or so.
I installed the adj xied's with Boyesen intake and Supertrapp 4" stout slip ons on my 2014 limited, bike runs great, 42 mpg average and never lacks for power. Just turned 10,800 miles today.
plug it in and go, I had the same questions, so I emailed the company, the owner and I emailed back and forth a few times in regards to my questions. great company, very helpful. I noticed the motor ran cooler, my decal popping went away, throttle response I felt was better and the typical 1st gear chugging the touring bikes have, all gone.
I have had my xied's on for over a year now, runs great, no issues at all. Gas mileage went down to low 40's but that's kewl with me. You can see in my sig what all I have.
I installed one and noticed no difference at all. I still have some decel popping and I never thought the bike ran hot in the 1st place. I added it to, in theory, cool it down because I didn't want to discolor my slip ons. So far so good but I can't tell you quantitatively that the XIEDS is working or doing anything different from stock. Makes me wonder if I got a defective unit.
the ECM expects to see .45 volts DC from the o2 sensor- that signifies a correct mixture in the cylinder- in real time.
less voltage means the mixture is lean/ more voltage means rich.
so the ecm 'wants' to see .45 volts and will alter the fuel mixture to keep that number constant.
xieds are a simple resistor pack which knocks the .45 VDC down to a lesser value...the ECM responds by making the mixture a little richer to maintain a .45 VDC sensor input.
easy.
What Steve Mullen at Nightrider.com did was figure the values, then build a sturdy, close tolerance unit for us- probably the most expensive parts are the connectors

my speedo is pretty accurate- I use my speedo day to day and have checked it against gps from time to time...let's say it's within the parallax error.
It's not like I stare at it.
the mpg figures given are based on odometer readings over thousands of miles both before and after the xieds.
if the current production speedo is off on alot of bikes, there is no good reason for that but for HD sloppiness.
My 88 FXRP has a mechanical drive certifed speedo...if they could do it 25 years ago....

You are one of the lucky ones. It's not a huge deal but at just over 40K on my 2012 model, being off by 5% adds up to a lot.
