On my 2014 I had the compensator replaced with the 5000 mile oil change. Have to go in for the 10,000 mile soon. Have to see if the replacement lasts longer.

My 09 Ultra got it,s third compensator at 63k the original lasted to 43k. The second first gen SE installed by the stealership was a piece of junk it started making noise after 10k. Today the bike has 75k no noise or problem. On the first two compensators I used HD primary oil but switched to Red Line Primary oil after the third compensator was installed. One other note make sure you fill your primary to the proper level HD manual recommends 38 to 42 oz ...

Like you stated, its under warranty. The last one was replaced under warranty, so take it back and make em put another new one in. I wouldn't ride it like that.

Why is HD having so much trouble getting this compensator problem resolved. I guess that is why my best riding buddy for many years finally gave up the HD last week for a BMW K-1600.
I'm sure he'll be happy; BMWs don't have ANY problems.

I am starting to wonder if that smallest bellville spring is too light and as it wears or loses its springiness that allows the slop that crates the clunk. Either a heavier small spring or replace it with one more intermediate sized spring might eliminate all the slop. Another option might be a spacer to just eliminate the smallest spring.

Sorry I have not responded to my OP but things have been a little crazy at work. I did take the bike back to the dealer who said he was happy to go back in and take a look, this after I called HD about the issue and started a case file. When I went to pick up the bike he the service mgr. said" three of us listened to it and the comp is fine." I said great I'll go home and tear it apart, at that point we both walked out to listen to the bike. I fired her up and let her idle , blipped the throttle and upon returning to idle , knock, knock, knock. He reached down grabbed the lower fairing sliding vent and said "that noise"? I felt really dumb and was glad I had kept my composure throughout this ordeal. I apologized and shut the bike off. KLUNK. He stated it's normal. I asked him too indulge me and start any late model used bike on the lot and convince me it was normal. As luck would have it, a customer with a 14 limited was parked next to me. The service mgr. fired her up, idled her, and shut it off. KLUNK. I guess we are just stuck with the HD comp problem that apparently continues. Sorry for the long post. I'm just going too ride it.
