Default Clunk clunk at shut down. Primary chain?

My bike is a 2011 FLTRU103 with 30K.

I recently had my bike in the shop for new tires prior to a 6000 mile ride. the service manager told be he wanted to pull the primary apart to look at the chain and compensator due to a clunking sound my bike makes when you shut it down. It's a double clunk sound the engine or primary makes just before it totally stops. They said that they've found compensator problems on other bikes that made that sound although they did say it could be normal for my bike. All this was done under warranty although the bike is now off warranty.

Well, they didn't find anything wrong although they did re-torque the compensator nut. I believe they checked to chain tensioner for proper operation and chain tension.

My bike still makes the same sound just about every time I shut it down.

I ordered a Hayden M-6 tensioner today and plan to tear the primary apart this Winter just of kicks. I'll thoroughly inspect the compensator, chain, tensioner and clutch. I may even tear it down and inspect the mainshaft bearing just for peace of mind. I had one fail on my 07 at 28K.

So, what do all of you guys think?

Anyone else have a similar situation or sound?

Any other helpful threads I might read. Gotta link to that thread?

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT - This is the tensioner I bought. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/...SIONER&CartID=

I had a clunk at shut down that went away after I replaced the compensator, you just had yours checked. Mine was checked less than 5k before when the dealer replaced my Stator either they didn't care or they were incompetent and I mentioned that the bike clunked too.

This is a link with pictures of the well worn compensator, shifting also improved after.

Man oh man. Your compensator was pretty trashed.

I believe that my 103 has the SE unit from the factory. I could be wrong since I haven't been into it myself. I should have asked to look at it when the tech had the cover off but I didn't.

Thanks for posting a reply. I appreciate your time and input.
