The chain links had worn down into the poly block ( or whatever it is) then the chain rollers started digging into the block. I e-mailed Hayden about this, I guess they won't stand up to their product. I have their adjuster in two Dynas and never had this problem. The stock HD adjuster went back in. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the pictures of my M6. I think the problem is 103" related.
I had the exact same thing thing happen to me. That howl was unbelievable.... I pulled the Hayden and put the non-self adjusting SE tensioner in, and while there is a whine noise, my chain is staying adjusted and all is well. My new Infinity Kappas are doing a great job of covering that noise.....

Just like my 05 had, and my tech says check it every 20k or so to make sure it's still proper tension...

Consider the Baker Attitude adjuster. I set mine for 3/4" of chain play when cold. The bike shifts like silk, finds neutral so easily, and first gear clunk is almost totally eliminated especially when hot.

I wonder if the GMR piece would work with the Baker tensioner looks like it wont just thinking out loud. I am not wild about the plastic funnel idea either its better than nothing is about all I can say.

I like the GMR concept getting rid of the Torrington bearing with the new washer etc. Torrington bearings are not thrust bearings when they are in a non-rotational application.

For instance - U-joints will fail almost immediately if there is no angle in the driveshaft to force them to rotate and lube.

Just moving back and forth with no oil is a disaster waiting to happen. my .002
