Default compensator bs

So my ol lady bought me a 2012 streetglide for our wedding.
So far it has been a **** show.
It was an internet transaction, he needed to sell, absolutely nothing wrong!!

It took one ride when it got to my house to figure that was bullshit. The battery and engine light where on and it was reading around 10 volts. Leaving from a stop it felt and sounded like something was slipping and banging in the primary. Well after some research I found out that these are both very common problems on 12 touring bikes. The compensator and the voltage regulator.

Well I checked with the dealer. My bike never received the regulator recall parts and my warranty expired on june 11th. Neither part would be covered under warranty.

So out comes the checkbook.

The brand new, end all, be all comp update. 320.00
Voltage reg 217.00
Hayden m6 117.00
2 quarts redline primary fluid 40.00
Awesome.

Well after reading a butt load of threads about upgrades, what fluid to use, fretting, grooving this and that I wanted to do a little experiment. I wanted to see if i thought the grooves would do anything. I installed the new comp without the oil deflector. Rode it 200 miles and drained and pulled the primary cover. There was NO OIL ON THE CENTER OF THE COMP. Like others I figured some would get splashed up by chance. I'll post some pics of all this.

2014 SE comp accompanied by Compensaver. That should do the trick.

You should be able to recoup your cost for the regulator since it was under recall.

Safety recall and campaign are two different things....safety recall has to be done for free no matter the warranty, campaign is only done for free within warranty period.

Here is a pic of the nut after the 200 miles, there isn't a drop of fluid on it. I installed the deflector today, ill let the adhesive dry for a day and take her for another spin.
