Default Emotional Help - Trading Tomorrow

Hey All,

Need some advice from "been there, done that" crowd.

Good day tomorrow. Upgrading to a 2014 FLHXS. Excited! Grinned every time I test drove, especially with the low end torque.

But…trading my girl for it. 2011 FLHX with 34,000 miles. My first Harley and bought in California. 20K miles of CA riding, and another 14K here in Virginia.

Have already been out in the garage apologizing to the FLHX. So much freedom, good times, and bonding.

I know it's weird, and, for those that don't bond with their machines, no need to comment. But for those that know this feeling, please give me some advice. Need to find a way to deal with the handing over of the keys.

Thanks all!

Skippy

Whenever I ride one of my old bikes, or drive one of the old cars...the previous owner comes to mind.

The good vibes will pass on to the next owner and we hope they are able to tune into that.

the new stuff i bought off the lot just doesn't have that vibe for me- sterile

You will miss your old bile for exactly 10 minutes. After that you will either wreck playing with the infotainment system or make it home and be completely in love.

Just kidding in the wreck part, but seriously you wont miss your old girl. The new bikes are amazing. I love mine

Take a lot of pics of your old bike. Always nice to look through them from time to time.

Hey Rubber,

Buying from Grove's HD in Winchester. One of the few dealerships that still has the black denim.

I literally cracked up about the infotainment comment, mainly because I have one and it was pretty confusing at first.

I know the feeling though. I had a 2010 Fatboy Lo prior to my Limited that I just got. I put a lot of heart and soul into that bike. The only thing left stock on it was the tank. I got so many compliments on it too. But it came down to functionality over style. It was very very difficult. But I am thoroughly enjoying my new limited. After a few thousand miles on the new scoot, it won't bother you as much anymore.

That's a quality dealer. All of my dealings there have been straight up.
