Been looking thru the forum for handlebar suggestions and still need some help...I have a 2010 RK with stock bars that are killing me in the elbows(near locked) and shoulders... I have to lean forward and and have too much weight on my hands...I'm short 5'6" and have a short reach (24" from armpit to knuckles)
Is there anyone out there about my size that replaced bars w good results? Want to keep existing cables and lines and do not want to extend any of those...not interested in 18" ape hangers...
I think I need something with about 12" pullback and 7" rise and 30" width
Have read up on the HD Heritage bars and HD High bars...anyone out there use Khome Werks Heritage Style Stretch 300043 or the 300042? Any other suggestions that won't break the piggy bank?
We're roughly the same size, although my bike isn't an RK. Have you simply tried adjusting your bars towards you? Costs nothing more than a little time. I too had to reach for my bars and was suffering from stiff shoulders after a while, however a few attempts at changing the position of the stock bars worked wonders! Try it before spending any money. I've done trips over 2,500 miles in complete comfort.
I also have a 2010 RKC.Had the same problems so I switched the stock bars for What is known as "Heritage style bars".That took care of all my problems. With those you can keep your cable and wires without needing to lengthen them.Any higher and you will have to.
If I'm not mistaken,in 2011 or 2012 the RKC came stock with the "Heritage style bars".
I have the Heritage-Style bars on my RK and it works good for me. I sit upright relaxed with bent arms. I'm your height as well.
Might suggest sitting on a '14 or '15 RK as the bars have changed to see if you're more comfortable on those. My dealer says those newer bars can be gotten.
Same problem here with the OEM bars, I tried a couple of Wild Ones, but now have the Heritage Style and absolutely love 'em. I went with Khromewerks since they have the 1-1/2" bar.
While my RK is a bit older I put stock 14 bars on my bike and love them. So consider stock take offs from newer model years. Got mine shipped for $34 from eBay with clamp and left grip brand new. I installed them at a much more upright angle.
Go here: http://www.wild1inc.com/ Check out the section "Handlebars 101". I have 518's on my RK. Absolutely perfect, but I also use a backrest, which I believe is absolutely essential. You might like the 508's, and again, a backrest is almost required when riding for long periods of time.

My 2011 RKC came from the MoCo with standard "Road King" bars.
Dealer told me Heritage Bars was a common, easy swap. I went that way and am well pleased. Later I did tilt them back just a little, excellent.
