Between 2150 and 2400 rpms I have clattering below and above these rpms very little noise. Is there a fix for this or is this something to be expected on 2013 FLTRU 20k miles 103 engine Thanks
you may find the motor is more comfy running at rpms higher than those.
driving advantages: you can control you speed better with the throttle is above 2800 rpms- that means you can get outta trouble...or by closing the throttle, slow the bike without using the brakes.
this is handy is canyon riding where you want to keep the brakes cool
Been chasing tick in mine for a while no luck yet. You are not the only one with in that rpm range. If you pull the top rocker box check you rocker shaft tolerances. Found a blocked oil port on a rocker shaft once don't remember it being rpm specific.
Don't buy into the 'Change lifters' coolaid, it's a fools errand.
Correct. I have ridden HD for years and had my FLHTC three years and it comes and goes as far as noises. Makes less noise right after an oil change and is a bit noisier when its due, hot days, cold days, high humidity etc. Until I hear a NEW noise AND have problems with its running good or a loss of power or whatever......its all just fine.
