Default Split opninions on GPS

I've looked at many threads and still debating on the Zumo 550 or the Nuvi 660. Around the same price but the 660 has the mp3 capabilities and the 550 has the mount and large buttons......Not even sure if the 660 can hadle the vibration. So any observations welcome.

decisions, decisions.....

Default RE: Split opninions on GPS

I have had my Nuvi 660 for about 4 months. I don't know how I ever got around beforehaving GPS. LOL I just got my Ultra and ordered a 3rd mounting bracket/docking station for it. I have two others in my cages. I also ordered a bracket for the handle bar from cyclegadgets.com to mount the Garmin docking station on. The docking station (my term, not Garmin's) makes it very easy to move it from vehicle to vehicle. I also pay $60/year for traffic (must use cig lighter power cord as it contains the FM antenna for traffic). That has come in very handy in Atlanta for my commute. The Nuvi will route you around traffic which doesn't work so well for Atlanta traffic since most everything is a mess normally. But I have learned so many new backroads home around the normal mess with no concern of getting lost and wasting time.

The mp3 feature is okay but has to play through the radio. I carry my ipod in the lower fairing glove box and wire it straight into the Aux on the radio. The bluetooth feature has been disappointing. I even sprung $18 for the microphone but people on the other end complain they can't hear me well. Could be my phone?

So I think the bottom line is: will you use it in other vehicles? If so will the Zumo do the trick in a car? Don't know anything about it. I'm feeling pretty confident with the mount I have purchased that the Nuvi will work on my Ultra. I will let you know in a few weeks.

zumo 550 has mp3 capabilities if that's what you are wondering. And the zumo works great in the car. Even in downtown, where the older gps have trouble, the SIRF powered Zumo works great.

zumo mount(car one and bike one)excepts the traffic antena that does not have the power cord cause mount connection supplies power. This antena is more compact/less coonection. Did not want xm and wanted to try the traffic antaena . On the garmin site I think its the m10 or something. Well any one wants mine pm me. It automaticly activates for 15 months subscription not 100% sure it "knows" if its someone elses unit? It worked great but not to practical for me.

I don't think its water proof, at least it doesn't mention it in the description. That's not really a determining factor for me though, it rains like 5 times a year down here.
