If I had to do it all over again I probably would go with the Zumo for the water factor. But since I had it 6 months before getting the green light from the wife for the bike I'm where I'm at. If I get caught in the rain the good thing about the Nuvi is with one hand and easy motion it detaches from it's mount and come right off and then powers off after 30 seconds. Worse case scenario I can pull it off and stick it in a pouch on the bike until seeking better cover (ie. underpass).
GGC - I'm interested in the back of the mount. Please supply a pic of the back if you can. I read the eBay listing and it says something about using the original mount with their bracket. Not sure what that means. Don't want to freak you out before taking delivery,,,,but the bracket that comes with it as you probably know is the suction cup for mounting on the window. I use that mechanism on a round plastic plate that is stuck on the top of my dash. The other mount is the "Automotive" mount. This is what I plan on double-side taping to the mount I purchased.
The mounting platform I ordered from cyclegadgets.com. It has a 1.5" arm. There is a 3" arm also. This may turn out to very hokey and I may end up spending more money for the solution you puchased.
