I just liked the look of the low profile shield, but I have a RG now so just clearing out stuff that I had for my SG. Extra Xmas money hehe! I personally didn't notice much of a difference.

here's a bump for ya redeye93. I'm 6'4, ride an 12' FLHTK and surprisingly enough I find it does help and it looks good. Doesn't help your passenger though especially if they're sitting on a stock seat where they're perched up a little higher than the driver. On long trips I'll take it off and replace it with my LRS 10" shield.
