Most embarrassing Trike moment ever.
I thought what a great idea it would be just to haul them to Milwaukee which according to Map Quest his house was 237 miles from my house. Great a nice Saturday ride. No traffic tie ups and no construction delays.
Mostly Interstate and and I cruised there in under 4 hours. Showed him some pointers on installing the stuff and looked at his collection of scoots. 4 of them had sidecars.
Turned and burned. Now comes the fun entering back into Illinois on I-90 the toll section before Rockford .
As I started to pull away from the toll booth my left foot slipped off of the floor board. Immediately it lodged under the left rear big *** tire! Still being quick for a 74 year old, I had the clutch pulled in fast. I thought "no problem" I stood up on my right leg to push the bike back. I only needed a couple of inches to do that. My right foot slipped out from under me and I plopped back down on my nice comfy Sundowner seat. I looked down and the road where I needed to put my foot on to push was covered in a big puddle of black motor oil. (Must be from Fords)
The male driver of the car waiting behind me walked up the back of the bike and stood there. I said could you just pull on the luggage rack. He said no I don't want to break your foot. I very slowly and calmly suggested to him that pulling it back would not break my foot but would release it and we could both be on our way. He just stood there.
At that point I realized that it was totally up to me. I reached down and folded up the right floor board and put my right foot in the area under it which was not very oily. Grabbed the grips and lurched up and and back with my 6'3" and 210 lb frame with all the strength this 74 year old could muster and pulled forward with my left leg. Out my foot came.
I revved the mighty High Out Put 103 and speed away. In a lapse of decorum I shouted a string of expletive deleted words with my modular face shield still up.
I don't recall ever being embarrassed in my life. But while stuck with my own foot under my bike with people watching I came to an understanding of what embarrassment meant.
However, being mobile within 10 minutes no one knew anything and I was released to be dignified again.
PS: Please don't tell my wife!

On tours I have run across them in Oklahoma and I think Kansas. I guess some states are not satisfied with your money for motels, gas, restaurants, bars and "entertainment" places. So they must rob you on the highway. Any traveler going across Illinois on I-80 will get hit at a short section near the Indiana border. Any north bound Interstate traveler with get a short section on I-90 or 94 and I think one other. You can freely travel to those states if you know the local roads.
