Hello my name is Ken(aka:Chief) and I just joined. This is a first for me. I have been riding motorcycles since 1965. My first bike was a Sears 105 Allstate, I quickly moved up to 650 Bonneville Triumph. In 1972 I got my first Harley Davidson Electra Glide. Then in in 1992 I got a new Electra Glide Classic. I sold the first two in 2010. I also have 1998 a Ultra Classic with a factory sidecar, a 2003 100th Anniversary Road King, 2006 VROD Street Rod, and a 2014 Triglide Ultra.
The trike is what brings me here. I bought it new in Aug 2013 and have had Radio issues since day one. My dealer after 2 years finally put in a refurbished radio. It has had intermittent problems from day day one and I'm still dealing with it. I got it out of the shop 2 weeks ago from being serviced & looking at the radio and the very first time I take it out it is worse than before. Now it has several issues. I call the dealer & of course they always have a 2 week waiting list to get it in. so her I am not able to ride it but 1 day out of the month.
Has anyone else had issues with the Boom Box Touch Screen Radio System ? The first radio had multiple issues also. I have $43,000 tied up in a bike I can't ride & use. then they put used refurbished parts on it that more than likely had intermittent problems that they passed on to me. My old AMF Shovel Head had given me better service. I'm ready to throw in the towel and sell off all my over priced Harley's and buy something. I'm too old for all these frustrations. Sorry my first post is venting. I had a trip planned I had to cancel twice now. When the radio messes up the Alarm tries to set going down the road, the Sirius won't work, the Cruise Control quits working. I'm afraid the security system will lock me out at some point preventing it to start & I'll be stranded.
Thanks for listening. If anyone else has had problems with this junk sound system please let me know. I appreciate it.

Reason: Forgot to list one bike
Hang in here, i'm sure someone can direct you on something for help.
Do you happen to know of another dealer around you?
I think I would be on the phone with MOCO daily until it got fixed. Do you have any warranty left on it ?
I can not figure out how to reply to each thread/message. I'm not quite sure how I even got here. But to all of you that have sent idea's or a welcome note thank you.
The next closest dealer is about 60 miles & owned by the same dealership. Then the next one the other direction is about 75 miles to Frederick, MD. I do have extended warranty left on it, but have been dealing with this since new.

Welcome aboard! Sure hope you can get this fixed while you still have warranty. Probably need to reach out to both of those other 2 dealerships, keep on fighting. Good luck.
Would anyone besides me want Harley Davidson to offer the current TriGlide Ultra style bike with a Road King Front end & removable windshield. I don't care for the fenders or the small trunk area on the Freewheeler. I use every bit of my trunk & Tour Pac when traveling.
I have never been one who needed a Radio & Fairing. Even though I have had a few bike with the Batwing Fairings, I prefer the massive chrome headlight on my 2003 Road King and my original 1972 Electra Glide with only a windshield.
Just a thought. For guys who like to keep their bikes like I do, it surely would make better sense since Harley discontinues the parts after 10 years. I'm talking parts like Cruise Control, Radio, etc.
Anyhow, I sure hope they come out with one I would trade for one I know.
Well, after my original post & filling out a customer survey for my latest visit to the Harley Dealership, they contacted me & told me my Trike was ready for pickup. When I got there they explained to me that all my issues this time was a result of the Notification/Alert was turned all the way down but still on,and that is why the volume would go silent on the Sirius XM Radio, even though the CB was turned off & I wasn't using the Navigation System. They further stated Weather Alerts would also do it automatically causing the the problem. I asked if that was the case wouldn't it also do it on the AM/FM Radio, or the Media/MP3 player ? They said one would think so, but Harley said that this is what it was. All the other issues that happened the last time like my Alarm trying to set going down the road, my Cruise Control not working, and the Brake Lights flashing, were all caused by a faulty front brake light switch, a faulty cruise control switch, and a bad tail light bulb. All of which they replaced, but all of them were working at the time I took it in with no issues on anything. All items were replaced on my extended warranty but they did not charge me the $50.00 deductible for all my on going troubles. That was very good of them. Fast forward 100 miles and a few days and the Sirius lost all volume with full signal strength. It first started to make static while playing then the static got louder & louder and the music went away & I only had the static. This lasted about 3 miles & then it came on and played well the rest of the day. I called my dealer & they are going to call Harley first thing Monday morning. They can only do what HD lets them do, but it really is getting old. 4 years I have been dealing with this & thank God I bought the extra 5 years of warranty. Does anyone know if there is aftermarket unit available that works with the handle bar controls & fits the hole properly ?
There are literally dozens of threads on the Boom system in the Touring Models / New Rushmore Models forum, take a look over there. Never heard of anyone having that many problems before.
Did you happen to have had your handlebars changed? Sure sounds like a bunch of functions the switch pods do are messed up or something. Either way, the dealer should have fixed all this stuff a long time ago.

No the Handle bars have never been changed. The Trike is bone stock except for chrome accessories installed by the dealer, and the CB/ Sirius Chips also added by dealer.
