I'm on the fence with XM. I bought a 10ft USB extension cable and ran it from the glove box to the tourpak trunk. I just open the trunk and plug in my iPhone. It charges and makes Carplay available on the bike radio. Nothing sounds better that digital audio from the flash drive or phone. FM radio is analog...or sound like it, and XM sounds about the same.

XM is indeed digital, but it's also got the snot compressed out of it. So the same resulting relatively low-fi signal, just being picky I guess. It also depends on the bit rate that our phone files are set at, there's some not-so-great .mp3s out there.

I use a card with 1100 songs, that's about 65 hours of music, and another 1300 on my phone hooked invia Bluetooth. Well over 120 hours is enough for just about any trip we're going to take.

Doesn`t the bike ALREADY have a radio and a cigarette lighter receptacle? If so, you could just buy a cheap bluetooth frequency matching unit to play through the existing radio on an unused frequency, and then use an app (Pandora as an example) to choose the songs you want for free. Or pay a small monthly fee to get rid of all of the ads. I`ve had Pandora for several years and still pay only $5/month for using it.

Default SIRIUS XM Module

It's compatible with '14 and later Touring and Tri-Glide models equipped with the BOOM!BOX 6.5 Audio System.
Once you install this unit, you will be able to pull the number up on your radio screen and then contact SIRIUSXM for activation.

With the options we have currently, I don't think I'll spend that many $ (at this time) but if you like your tunes that much it's your $.

BTW, if you're getting this unit installed, it is a great time to also have the remote garage door opener installed.

Default SIRIUS XM Module Swap

No need to buy new Module from 2015 6.5GT to 2020 GTS Model

The only complaint I have with Sirius is I hooked it up and pay money to listen to music not a DJ, yea it's commercial free but I get a little tired of listening to a DJ yammer on.

Default SIRIUS XM Module.

It takes a different XM module than the the '14-'18 models. 76000842, $399.95 msrp but can be had cheaper from discount dealers. It is very simple to install yourself so your can save some $$ vs having the dealer install.

Once you get the module installed and the system recognizes it you will see an option for Sirius XM on the home screen - same as you see for FM, AM, etc. And contrary to what a couple dealers have told others the module DOES NOT require a flash by the dealer. The instructions clearly state that once you turn the Boom Box on after the install it may take a couple minutes for it to recognize and update the module all on its own.

I have XM in both of my cars but never did subscribe. They finally gave me an offer I could not refuse so I subscribed. What I do when I ride my trike is use the online streaming service on my cell phone with their app and my Bluetooth helmet speakers. The only downside is that it is not available if you are out of cell range. I then switch to my USB drive saved music until cell service is back in range.

I just use a portable XM radio. I can move it from vehicle to vehicle and home. I bought extra antennas because of routing them once is enough. I also use a FM modulator, so all I have to do is preset an FM station for the XM. So, all I have to do is subscribe for one radio and not multiple units. I just let the car and truck complimentary subscription run out and go portable.
