I was riding down the road today and the little red security light came on and then later the check engine light came on. Brake lights are on all the time too. I have codes reading.
P0572 brake switch low
B2116 Fuel pump output open
B2223 Rear brake switch shorted low ( light on )
Don't know what to think of this nonsense. Bike runs good, starts good. Last thing i did to the bike was change the oil a couple of weeks ago.
Do i have a bad brake light switch ? I wish the damn thing would tell you which brake light switch to look at.
Think it is. My rear hydraulic switch is easy to get too. Two wires on it. Makes no difference which you pull.
I'm guessing but I think maybe it's stuck on. The code picked it up when it read throttle position on and brake on too long a time.
BUT GUESSING. You need to get brake light off. Then reset codes and try again. Don't go too far from home.?.. Heard those 3 wheelers are a bitch to black up home and even harder to push....
The rear brake light switch looks to be a bitch to get to. Looks like the pipe needs to come off just to replace the switch. There needs to be a better way to figure this out. I was wondering if it could be the front switch ? I hate swapping parts that don't fix the issue.

What i meant was replacing a part and it turns out not to be the problem. I am going after the rear switch as soon as i can. The problem may be getting a new one around here. I will let you know how this turns out.

I think he meant to unplug one of the wires at the switch (rear) first to see if the light goes out to test the switch. First test the switch to see if it is bad, you can alternatively check the wires using an VOM meter. A Harley Davidson Service Manual and Electrical Service Manual for your year and model bike is your friend.

MUCH CHEAPER, than just throwing parts at a problem ! Just eliminate potential problem areas, also check the switch with an ohms meter.
Work carefully around the switches, especially the front brake switch.
The rear switch is close to exhaust, so it can be defective from that.
I got to the switch this morning and as soon as i unplugged it the brake lights went out. I put my ohm meter on the terminals of the switch and was expecting to see a shorted switch ( 0 ohms). But the switch is not showing any movement and not shorted to ground. I am in this far and just going to replace the switch which i believe to be the problem. They should shoot who ever designed the switch location, what a stupid place to put the switch.
