On the trikes the rear brake light switch is so close to the exhaust and the rear cylinder that often get to hot and discontinue to work. I'd just replace it and I'm sure the rest of your problems would be gone. I recon I should say that I have had that problem before on mine. Fairly easy to replace. Good luck.

My Tri Glide had a recall and the MoCo relocated the switch away from the pipe due to failures resulting from to much heat.

Well i just have finished installing the new switch and all is well again in my world. To anyone who has to do this ,it can be done without removing the exhaust. Take the 2 bolts out of the master cylinder and the nut off of the pedal and it can be wiggled out and away from the bike enough to swap the switch out. The service manual wants you to remove the engine mount and the master cylinder. I didn't even have to bleed the brakes. Gotta be fast as the brake fluid comes out pretty fast. Mine went from the high line to the low line.but no problems.
Seems like alot going on just to tell you that your brake lights don't work.. I liked the old days when one of your buddies would just ride up along side you and tell you that your brake lights don't work.

For what it's worth, mine wouldn't go on; same switch problem. Similar code. Apparently it can fail either open or shorted, depending on your luck.

HD's needs to use better switchs to start with. I installed several on my Shovelhead, 2 on my Heritage. 2 on my 12 Streetglide and now just replaced the one on my Tri-Glide. Only replaced 1 on my Panhead.
