Default bluetooth headsets help please

Anyone have any input as to pros & cons of bluetooth headsets. I hate the Harley cords (replaced both cords last season). Looking at both Scala Q2 and J&M sets but would consider others. Any input appreciated.

My son bought two of the Scala riders headsets for his Victory Vision....he returned both, worked well sitting still but the wind noise from the passenger headset was unbearable!!!!
I know this is also a big problem with the Honda Goldwing headsets, too much wind from the passenger headset...all this being said my wife says she gets less wind on the Harley than the Wing so it may moot.....just FYI.....
Maybe get someone to let you try before you buy or some type of return policy in writing if it doesn't work out for you....he bought his from a Honda dealership in Kansas and they let him return them for a full refund....

I also have been thinking about a com set, bike to bike, just havent got enough info yet. I know there units with throat mikes that are supposed to be immune to wind and other noise but have not seen any reviews on them.

Default BlueAnt

The wife & I have the BlueAnt Interphone setup - helmet to helmet. It also has the capability to do cell phone, which I don't use. When I'm riding, don't want to have anything to do with the "real world". Wind can become a factor at higher hwy. speeds and I'm not fond of the fact that you have to plan charging them up before riding together. We have ridden longer than the charge can hold making the last hour or so filled with dead air.

I'm looking into putting a hard wired, yep - the kind that you don't like - system onto the bike. J&M is the only "self contained" system I have found so far. I don't have the Harley radio/batwing setup. Until then our interphone will be it.

I have a set of the BlueAnt Interphones as well. Nice product and have found the wind noise to be about the same with all models. The Interphone has been discontinued, too bad, I think they are better than the new BlueAnt model out now. Talk is clear but get's a little static past 200 feet. We used them when the wife started to ride her own. Now that she does I don't use them anymore. They are shelved in the OEM box in my garage. If you have a good home for them I would be willing to part with them.

They last about 4 hours before needing to be recharged. We used them a half a dozen times until she got the hang of it and got tired of listening to me ramble.

Okay, (showing my ignorance here) several have mentioned wind noise being an issue. Is it any different than with a standard headset? Do they do not have "push to talk" or VOX & stay on all the time?
My main use would be a wireless rider/passenger intercom.

I have never had the wireless ones you are talking about, but on the wing, yes push to talk but not a "vox" as with the Harley...the setting we had to use to be able to break the mic's open was just high enough that the wind at speeds over 45 would have the passenger's mic stay open, the noise would become unbearable after short order...there is a company called "mic mutes" making a kit for the wing that uses the CB button to open and close the mics, cutting them off completely, that's how bad the passenger mic is on the wing...the Harley is way better and doesn't have this issue unless you really set the vox high...

The way my son described his operating, it sounded just like the wing. I have never used or listened to the wireless, so I'm spouting off just from "assumption" and you know what that gets ya...

But I did own 4 Goldwings and know first hand about their intercom/CB system...sucks as for the wind noise....best way I could discribe it is imagine riding down the road with several riders and all having CB radios on...one rider has his button pushed to talk, but saying nothing...and a strong wind blowing...after a few miles you would turning off your radio....

My wife and I have the Cardo Q2 Teamset, we love it, wind noise is not a problem. Works great for intercom and cell phones.
