OK I'll ask the dumb question, what's wrong with looking thru the windshield?
The slight bit of distortion on mine actually gave me a headache after an hour, that and I jut dont feel comfortable looking through it, not sure why, might be because all my previous bikes didnt have windshields? Not sure...

I understand, my StreetGlide was my first windshield bike. I quickly changed it to one that offered zero wind/flying object protection because the stock windshield was not cool.
Decided not to alter my Ultra's W/S when I picked it up and give it a try, the more that I tried it the better I liked it. I did try one that was a little shorter and had more curve in it, but it offered to much distortion where the plastic was formed.
Kinda glad the I havn't changed it, because last weekend a bug about the size of a private plane would have hit me somewhere between my mouth and eyes were it not for the W/S. I was at Interstate speed so I couldn't tell from the remains what type of bug it was, but I swear I believe it had a skeleton.
Hi guys I have had a F4 customs windshield on my 06 ultra most of its life. I just traded her in for a 2011 tri glide. The windshield was swapped out on my request. This has been the best windshield ever. You can clean it with paper towels and you can even put rain x on it. The best windshield on the market in my opinion. You can take 0000 steel wool to clean if you wish!! No problem looking thru it either, great protection from bugs and bird crap.

I purchased the 10" Ultra model LRS shield and I love it. It shoots the wind about 6" over my head and the optics thru the shield - even the "flip up" part is perfect! I am 6'2" tall and I can see over it when I drive and bugs even get thrown over my head nicely. I ride a 2013 FLHX. As far as pricing, their shields are very very affordable.
