Default Question about Engine Temps

For those of you that are able to monitor your cylinder head temp while riding... what temps are you seeing on long hot rides?

Related question: What is the ideal/optimum CHT?

I don't have the PV yet, that is next week...... But the EITMS looks at temps of on at 287* & off at 275*. So I would think anything below 275* head temps are fine..... Just guessing tho.
What are you running on oil temps? But you have that second cooler still don't ya ?
Ride Safe !

Two up, interstate speeds: Oil 220 or so, Head Temps 250 / 260.
Before, if my head temps reached 280, thing just fell on its face, ran real bad.

Hey guys... It's early so forgive my "matter of fact" post here..

I believe you guys are referring to Engine Temp? A sensor for Heat Temp doesn't exist.

There is a difference in Head Temp and Engine Temp when reading data.

Head Temp can reach up into the 400* range. This measurement is calculated by the ECM using various other tid bits of data and is not real. Close, but not real.

Real or not, It is a good base line I feel able to use. With factory tune, temp on the gauge I use would easily be 325 going down road. Now more comfortable and I feel it is nice to be able to check the temp.

Had a typo in my post Dennis...

Should have read, a sensor for Head Temp doesn't exist.

Engine Temp is real as it uses the temp sensor in the front cylinder. That's where you guys are getting the mid 200 temps from.

It's the little things in life that make the world go 'round.

Such as. When I hear someone say I need a new Map for my tuner...

It's not a Map, it's a calibration. MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure.

Just say'n

Pass a lil of that wine around. Will ya?

Without running my WPW fans I'll see 280's -290's on my 12 TRI. Running the fans I see 250's-260's.

Thanks guys...what I am monitoring is the engine temp on the Power Vision. I believe the PV is pulling from the front cylinder head temp. Please correct if this is wrong.

I am seeing a range of 240-260.

I am hoping these are good numbers. If there is a different range that would be better... ie. what are those who are running a good tune with a TTS seeing?
