Finally broke down and installed a screaming eagle compensator and hayden chain tensioner today.
I am kicking myself for putting it off for so long.
It took a pandemic to finally give me the time.
Well worth it.
Do you feel the tensioner is worth it? How much of a difference or what did you notice after doing it. My wife and I replaced the comp on her softail but not the tensioner.
I've been running a Hayden tensioner for around 9 years now. No problems. OEM tensioner tends to over tighten the primary chain leading to clutch hub bearing failure. Big plus with the Hayden is ease to find neutral and smoother running engine.
I haven't ridden it yet but I am thrilled that it does not sound like it is about to self destruct when it starts.
As far as the tensioner, the stock one was extremely tight. It is comforting knowing that do not have to worry about it over ratcheting and over tightening the chain.
When I put the Screamin' Eagle compensator in my 2010 Road King I could immediately see why the MoCo put them in stock starting in 2011.My Indy tried to talk me into a Baker, but it just didn't make sense to me for a Stage 1 and the way I ride that bike. The original compensator should have never been released to the pubic ... junk!
twobanger2 good so hear of good decisions and happy faces. Got 102,000 miles on my Dyna. Replaced my compensator with a Vulcan solid motor sprocket after a 105" AMS top end at 100,000 miles. Crankshaft runout right & left was 0.001 so if it lasted that long, the crank is good. Solid motor sprocket weighs 8 lbs less than the compensator. Add to that forged light weight pistons (less reciprocal weight) my Dyna revs up very quickly.

I got almost 100000 on the stock tensioner and it works fine.. On my 4th or 5th comp tho..
