Help please.. How to test a delphi coil 31743-01 with a 4 pin plug on an 06 Deluxe EFI using a multi- meter ? I have searched everywhere even Delphi but all they show are 2 connectors
Ya got 4, power, front, rear, Ion Sensing pins. Look at yer factory Service Manual, ignition wire diagram page. Trace the wires to the ignition coil to see where they go. Use the power, front and power rear. Don't worry about the Ion Sensing pin.
seems I have same bike as you, first time in the 10 years the bike left me stranded on the road as it just calmly stalled, and nothing made it start so just got it home
studied a bit and seems also missing spark issue, coil as suspect
took off the coil and googled wiring diagrams and seems can easily measure from the 4 pin connector and plug wire connectors:
put the coil on table so that the 4 pin connector is on top, and pins towards you.
first (left) pin is power, and third and fourth (from the left) are the primary coils. just measure resistance between the first and third pin, and first and fourth pin for the two primary coils, should be small single digit ohm value.
secondary can just measure from plug wire connector to ground (the steel on bolt hole). should be something in magnitude of thousands of Kohms I understood (around 10K or something like that) mine is infinite in both secondaries i.e both secondary ones gone. no wonder she left me on the road.

EDIT: have to add to avoid misleading comments: i got confused as noticed that I have 6kohms resistance between plug wire connectors, thus maybe misunderstood how the secondary side is wired. maybe actually should not measure resistance to the ground, need to dig deeper.
