That was kinda my point and most likely I'm just being an ***, so don't put too much stock in my opinions BUT........
IMO anything that is put between a sensor or between the ECM and the wiring harness is just a band aid and is used to "trick" the ECM into reading or doing something outside of it's programmed parameters and is not an acceptable substitute for a proper tune
Devices such as the one the OP has shown really don't do anything but skew the math to get the ECM to react in a certain way that probably not the best for the bike
Bike seems to run ok now. I know from doing a Stage 1 to my 1200C that the tuner should help to align everything and make it all the better.
A more free-flowing AC, combined with my gutted pipe and some kinda tuner will hopefully get me closer to a Stage 1.

Yesterday I learned that all of the air cleaners like the one above may look similar, but have different backing plates.
So... something HO (High Output) or Screaming Eagle, for cheap, is my goal right now.
Not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. My is, stock runs your engine lean across the board. Basically X-ied's fool your ECM into thinking your bike is running leaner than it actually is, so your ECM riches things up across the board. To our tuning guru's, does this sound about right?

EDIT: just realized this post started off as an air cleaner swap question
