Default White puffs of smoke when in the throttle??

My father-in-Law owns a&nbsp\\;2006 VRSCA that&nbsp\\;he purchased new. At around 500 miles he put a set of HD SE Slip-ons on and a K&amp\\;N filter and had&nbsp\\;the local dealership remap the computer.&nbsp\\;He now has&nbsp\\;about 700 miles on the bike.&nbsp\\;He has been&nbsp\\;noticing&nbsp\\;the fuel mileage is terrible (~30Mpg) and when&nbsp\\;he gets into the throttle there is&nbsp\\;a light cloud of white smoke. Not thick, almost misty looking but definately there. Not apparent when just cruising. Any suggestions??[/align]

My guess would be unburnt fuel-it's too rich.

I would think that if it were running rich it would leave black soot in the pipes and the smoke would be black?Isn't that a safe assumption?

You'd get soot but the "smoke" may not be black. Black implies burnt and if the fuel level is too high some of the fuel may not be burning. This is of course just my opinion from reading one (now two) posts on the issue. It does seem to fall in line when you mention that he has lower than average fuel economy,&nbsp\\;the 'smoke"&nbsp\\;is "misty" in appearance,&nbsp\\;and that it occurs as a response to increased fuel flow. Idle and low RPM may be set right but he may have an issue with excessive fuel delivery at higher RPM.

Even with low miles but just an idea, check your coolant level.&nbsp\\;

With 500 miles I didn't even consider that but you may be on to a possibility. Nice suggestion wicked

if an engine is rich, it produces black smoke. white smoke is typically coolant, but we know thats not it. Oil would be a blueish color. i guess it is time to take it back to DLR.
