Default Black smoke

Anyone have puffs of black smoke come out of the exhaust when idle. and crack the throttle ??? I just noticed this when i was warming the bike up. When I crack the throttle in neutral some puffs of darker smoke comes out. what could be the cause of this ?

I have an 06 Dyna, V&H Big Radius. K&N Filter. and PCIII

The fuel table in the ECM richens the fuel mixture until the engine reaches operating temperature. If you gun the throttle you'll get a black puff of smoke, and if you're riding behind the bike you will smell the unburned fuel. Even after the bike warms up you'll likely see a little black puff of smoke off idle. Usually the fuel table is set a bit rich around idle even when the bike is warmed up.

Why would you crack the throttle in neutral during warm up on a fuel injected bike? Isn't that the advantage of EFI, not having to actively warm up the engine?

I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking. I thought you didn't have to warm it up like that with fuel injection.

I had a buddy that wanted to hear what the pipes sounded like, i just blipped the throttle a bit so he could hear them. Thats when we noticed the puff of smoke.

I normally let my bike warm up about a minute or two before taking off. In colder weather i let it warm up longer. I have 1000 miles on it
