Hi
This is my first time on a forum so i hope this is ok ?
I have a 07 Night rod and when i open up from low ish revs i get a clatter noise from the front end area under the tank,so i was wondering is this normal for these models. It does not make any other noise's when i am running and i have inspected under the tank and checked that every thing is tight and where things should be.
Thanks
do some searches on this forum for engine ping and i think you'll agree.
i had the same problem with my 09 FLHTP and it was fixed by a new map upload sent to me by Fuel Moto (I have a Power Commander V)
crappy gas or slightly advanced timing could also be the culprit.
in the meantime, stop the excelleration that causes the noise. if it's PING, you could do damage
Sounds to me like you're lugging the motor. What speed and gear are you in when this happens? I know that VRs have a broad powerband, but at some point you've got to shift.
I'm gong with Mr. Lucky. The Revo dosn't like rpms under 3,000. It comes on at 4,000, and you hit the limiter at around 9250.
If you are cranking the throttle between 1,100 and 2,900, your engine is hating you. The bike will do over 50mph in first. Downshift.
