well regular harley usually are not concidered performance so why worry about how they affect the bikes just as long as it chrome and loud.
I like to think I'm "regular Harley"......the V-Rod does not even wake up until 5k on the tach. and below that is where the 110 beast lives and breathes.........
112 lb/ft of torque in a package that's only 60 lb's heavier than the VRSCDX....nah, us "regular Harley" folks don't care anything about performance.....

Oh, and it's also loud and chromed as well :-)
You, like many V-Rod owners are still the vast minority of Harley buyers. I personally love the Breakout. Saw them being built at the York, PA plant a few months ago.

Yea I know......every now and then I just like to remind folks that not all us air-cooled riders have bikes that are all show and no go !!

I hear ya. I can rattle off about a dozen air cooled Harleys that I wouldn't mind owning... I'd love to see how the Breakout rides compared to my V. It would be interesting to see at what point the HP of the V-Rod overtakes the TQ from the Breakout, too...

Oh, I can tell you for sure, that riding the Breakout does not get my pulse racing or an ear-ear grin like riding the V-Rod does...it's the best example I've ever ridden of what it is, a boulevard cruiser, with diesel engine levels of torque....
But it does not put every one of my senses on overload like a good rip on the V-Rod does
And for the OP, like others have said......put a fueler and new exhaust on and you are ready to go.....you won't believe the bike after just these two upgrades......and you will shed about 30 pounds-those stock mufflers are made of concrete!
Guy's my Fatboy is no slouch by no means! I spent about five grand having it bored ,cams and heads ported and polished. Saying that I still love my V-rod! When my V-rod comes to life the fat boy is just about maxed out! It handles like a dream and is compfortable. I want to put a good set of slip ons on it and a tuner.
I recently purchased a 2013 Night Rod and looked at several prior years before I bought. They said they went to reduced reach bars and pegs and they are different. I sit almost upright on the 2013 and find it very comfortable. I traded in a 2010 Fat Bob and actually find I sit more upright on the Vrod and find it more comfortable. Try sitting on or riding a 2013 Night Rod and you'll be surprised.
NJFB, I also have been looking at the night rod for several years. I feel the same way about it being more compfortable than my softail. My wife even enjoys the ride and that's saying something! Mine also is a 2013 VRSCDX .
