My brother just purchased an "06 Ultra" EFI and had the dealer install the SE stage 1 kit with V&H mufflers and the appropriate download for the ECM. Long story short is that the check engine light would not go out, there was a noticable loss of power and the engine seemed to run verry rich. Not good for a new bike having been set up by the dealer with dealer with dealer recommended upgrades.
At the end of the day after consultation with a number of Harley Tech Support centers, it was rcommended that he try the HD/SE mufflers with the solenoid activated damper to correct the problem. They wern't verry convincing and no one seemed sure if this would cure the problem so he decided to return the bike back to stock set up and parts until someone could offer the definative fix for the problem.
So this is my question. Does anyone know how to get a set of performace (healthy sounding) pipes and SE stage 1 kit on an 06 Ultra EFI big twin and get it to run properly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
welcome from so fla....i am sure you will get lots of great advice on this site.....i can tell you that a friend of mune just gotan 06 springer and the guys at the dealership told him that HD will not honor their factory warranty if you add aftermarket upgrades to the bike anymore, so i recomend he try the SEII's .... they sound good give good performance and there are ways to make them louder by playing with the baffles. there are threads in this site all about that....give a search around.
It should have been fine with that setup. If the check engine light is on there will be codes in history and the dealer should be able to see what the problem is and dial it in again.
Where in Ontario are you from, and which shop did your setup? There's a bnch of us canucks here.
Just from what I have heard, the 06 ecm upgrades are no available yet, and the 05's will not work in the 06's. This was a while ago , so maybe they are out now.
The dealers here got something figured out because they have done some upgrades to the 06s at Republic HD in Stafford, TX and they are running and sounding great. They have a Street Glide that I'd buy in a heart beat if I had the money and the Stage 1 is already complete with some Samsons on it. Sounds like a monster!!
I just bought an 06 FLHRI,and dealer said they don't have the download for the
06 bikes. That was about two weeks ago, checked with them today, still a no go.
05 set up won't work on the 06 models.
