Default Hello from Guam... No, really. Guam!

Greetings,
I bought my Sportster 1200 Custom about 4 months ago. This is my first motorcycle. Definately think I should have done this years ago. Still a bit overwhelmed with all the options and ways to customize my bike. First thing I want to do is get new pipes or slip on mufflers, since I want to actually hear my Harley. Right now it sounds like I'm riding a John Deere! Of course, aside from the SE slip ons, I have no idea what will work and what won't with my bike.
I'm over 6 ft tall, so I've gotten some grief from other Harley owners about riding a "mini-bike" or Chicks bike. Frankly, the Sportster is the only style I could get through Military Car Sales here on Guam (they don't bring the big bikes here) and for my first bike, I wanted minimal investment in case I found it wasen't me. So to all of those people, smoke off, I like my Sportster!
Cheers
Mike

Mike, welcome to the bb. Guam, eh? Spent about a month there a few years back. Had many a great nights out there. Kept finding a place called the Hot Spot though (I think that's what it was) while I was TAD there. Enjoy your stay there and here.

Glad you found us...which branch of the service are you in? I'm guessing Navy...enjoy that ride, and as you get ready to make mods, pipe in and ask, plenty of experience on the board, and all are really willing to help.

Hey Mike,

Welcome to the Forum.

I like sporty's after all its a Harley!
(BTW I know a chick that just picked up her 05 Vrod -- so much for they who think a chick bike is a sporty!)

The main thing is what you like. I got the wide glide, because if felt good to me.

Welcome aboard. Some may find fault with what you ride, but at least you have a Harley, and if that's all that you could get there, so what. There was an old show years ago called Then Came Bronson. I'm not sure, but I think that he had a chopper that was made from a Sportster. I'm not sure, but maybe. Anyway, have fun with what you got and enjoy.
