Hello to All
My name is De’ro and have just registered here on HD forum, In my younger years I was heavy into Bikes (Harley’s) and riding till I guess Life got in the way!! LOL you know Kids, career family, Bikes were eventually sold because no time to ride All but a parts bike remained in the back of the shop buried under stuff for many years. The rekindling of a passion for Bikes came while cleaning out the shop with my oldest son Joshua and an youngest son Terry and unburied the parts bike that struck up a conversation of Josh before Terry ‘s time, recalling his younger years of BBQ’s Gathering of friends and bikes lined up, also with me riding him down the road on an old Harley (My 1977 hardtail Ironhead)and dad working on bikes for friends , then he says how about a father son project came about, He says let’s take this old bike and rebuild it, well this got me to thinking it’s been a long time sense I have turned a wrench on a bike how much did I remember about them it had only been 32 years and was I up for this task? Took the air compressor out aired up the tires much to my surprise the old dry rotted tires held air to roll it out the shop, after giving some thought over the next few days my two sons and I started the rebuild. As time goes on I’m enjoying the father son time and really enjoying a forgotten passion for the machine. Also have an eye out for one of those Street Glides!! Lol oh and now have to Ironhead Sportsters in the shop the Project bike and another 1980 Harley that was dumped into my Lap so to Speak. With a little work have it running!!
Hope I didn’t put anyone to sleep with my story looking forward to maybe getting assistance an advised on how to things if I get lost on the rebuild.
Have a Fantabulous Day!!
Got family in New Iberia, so I'm out that way. I'm taking a trip this summer, borrowing my friends Ultra Glide and trekking around LA. Going to be boiling some crawfish in New Iberia, I'll invite you when the time is set.
