Fat Bob for Me
Most important stuff first - I picked up a '09 Fat Bob with 725 miles (yes, 725) this past Sunday. Bike is flawless except where the previous owner let it fall off the kickstand and it scratch the crash bars. Pics below but only after you read the rest of the post.
I'm coming off of a 2 year break from motorcycles. Sold the last one to get a boat. Two weeks ago, my cousin came to visit from out of town with 5 of his motorcycle buddies. He was riding a 2017 Street Glide and the other two couples were on Indians. Just hanging out with them for the weekend made me really miss the comradery that comes with riding.
Nevertheless, two weeks later and I've got a bike!
I'm not new to riding. My first motorcycle was a '04 883C. I kept it for a few years until I just flat got bored of it. The bikes that followed were supermotos, a few dirtbikes (not listed) and one V-Twin fast bike.
- 2009 Suzuki DRZ400SM (
- 2006 KTM 625SMC
- 2007 KTM Superduke 990
- 2012 Yamaha WR450 Converted to Supermoto
After being used to these, I will say that the Fat Bob feels, well, fat. Not in a bad way though. It is just the difference in riding a 200lb motorbike and a 700lb motor bike. I will say that the few miles that I've put on it have put a smile on my face. I hit a few curves and it feels great. It's nice to be back in the saddle!
I look forward to learning from you guys and hope to meet and ride with some from the Charleston, SC area!
