I am a soon to be Harley owner that stumbled across your forum during some down time over here. I am a Marine serving in Iraq and will be picking up my bike when I return. I bought it over here and cannot wait to ride. I started riding about three years ago and have a Vulcan 800 Classic that is currently up for sale. I have been wanting a Harley, but I had to wait for the right time to purchase one, I learned over here that now is as good time as any. I am already picking out accessories that I want for my bike. I currently have a Low Rider reserved but I have an application in to swap it for a denim black 'Bob' if one is available during the December allocation. Apparently they are hard to come by. I had my initial application for one in almost two months ago, but as luck of the draw would have it I got a vivid black one instead. I gave that one back and went with the Low Rider which may be more sensible but I love the sinister look of the denim black 'Bob.' We will see in December. Either way I am set and ready to ride when I get back. Until then I look forward to learning more about our passion from you all. Take care.
So you either got some cool folks at your TOC or the MWR is set up right.....either way good to see you can get online.
I spent all of 2003 in Nasiryiah....near Talil Air Base. Hope you are doing well wherever you are and are simply embracing the suck and looking forward to getting home to your bike.
I almost purchased my 03' FXDL though the overseas program but when I got word to my local dealer that I was gonna go that route [simply out of courtesy as I had been shopping with them from afar], they made me too good a deal on an un-opened LowRider.
Man what a homecoming....my wife and a new Harley............talk about an emotional reunion/introduction...ha.....we've logged over 17,000 on the Low since Dec 03.
Take care brother...and um, splat a camel spider for me.......I sure don't miss sleeping with those buggers.
