By way of Intro. I've been riding bikes off and on for much of my life, but recently, bought myself a XL1200C. Unfortunately it is in a pretty sorry state but I am hoping to make it better. Right now I am in the process of; 1. replacing the forward controls and 2. Resolving the erratic idle and associated misfire.

Thanks for the welcome folks. Travelled to US recently (Oct/Nov), great experience. Your roads are vastly superior to ours here in SA. But I guess it was the recent visit that got me thinking about a HD. It sits beside my BMW R1200ST which I will off-load once I get my XL1200C going.
