Should I get a Harley?
I have a sports bike background: Panigale, Speed Triple, MT-09 and have recently had another crash, killing the bike and slightly injuring me. The missus is less than happy about me ever riding again and I am putting together a 'proposal' to allow it.
First off. I will never own/ride a sports bike on the UK roads again. I might buy a superbike but make it road illegal and only use it for track days.
I might not be allowed to get another bike at all but I was thinking... something less sporty, less powerful and heavy and a Harley Davidson comes to mind!

It still ticks a lot of my boxes; looks cool, sounds the nuts and is great for modification - and it is still a motorcycle.
My worry is, and this is to other speed demons, will I get bored of the HD real quick or just find it frustrating?
I truly believe I can enjoy the experience and settle for cruising in relative safety but have this nagging thought at the back of my mind.
Maybe it is best a poor rider like me stays off the road.
Lastly, if I am allowed to get a HD then is a Sportster 1200 48 okay? I had a look around and this one, to me, looks pretty stylish and there are bloody amazing pre-customised versions out there which come out at the same price as a new one - circa 10K.
I won't get an open-face helmet, grow a beard, get a tattoo, piercings or a leather jacket with tassels on but I still think it might be the bike for me.
Cheers!
Just my 2 cents

Yes a Harley may slow you down enough, but any of them are fast enough to kill you if you do something daft.
I've owned plenty of fast bikes and a couple of Harleys, the difference with a Harley is that it is more enjoyable to tootle along and smell the daisies than it is on a sports bike with your **** in the air and all the weight on your wrists.
