Default Yet Another New Guy.

Hello. Nice forum you have here. I live in Sacramento County, California. I've been riding for along time. I've now achieved geezer status and have been riding since I was 13 years old. I've owned more than 40 motorcycles, many of which were Harley-Davidson, with the first a basket case '42 WLA that I paid a friend $25.00 for. That was the first of 2 '42 WLA's and one Model G Servicar. Among others were a 1946 WR Racer, 1946 FL, 1947 EL, 1950 FL, and a 1953 KK. I kept the '50 FL for more than 25 years and then took some time out to get married and have some kiddies. Got back into bikes in 1993 with an '82 Shovelhead and later with a new '93 FLH and a few years later a 2004 FLHTCU. Added a Harley sidecar to that a few years later and ran that until I traded it in for a 2011 FXDB Dyna. Kept that until 2016 and then took some time off until last week when I picked up a nice 2010 FXDWG. I was in the HOG group for some years in Sacramento and I went to Laughlin Nevada for the gathering about 5 times in teh late '90's, thankfully ending up before the shootout.

I've done my own Harley work all along and it's a good thing because the local dealers are now getting big money for their labor which with the complexity of modern bikes is probably well-earned. LOL. I still have my Harley flywheel truing jig that I got when I was 15. It's dated 1937 on the casting marks. I also have a Harley wheel lacing jig that's dated in the 1930's.

I hope to be able to contribute here. Regards to all.

Welcome from Spartan Country, Michigan!
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!
