Default mounting a GPS with suction cup

has anybody ever used the suction cup mount for a zumo 550 on a bike useing the cigar lighter for power ,this seems to be a viable option ,because of the versitility of moving it from auto to bike.I ride a 2006 streeglide with a full screamin eagle 95 race kit ,including a six speed and racing clutch with screamin eagle race tuner , and I don't really want a GPS mounted permanently on the bike. The only problem I can see is ,if the suction cup fails ,goodby zumo. I would really like to hear from you if you have tried this [8D]

Welcome from Louisiana and I also pondered the same question about my GPS. I have a Garmin 330C that utilizes a suction cup mount. I took the mounting bracket apart and made a mount made out of an old handlebar clamp I had and of all things a piece of PVC pipe. Made a mount out of that and it works great. Put on your thinking cap and you can come up with something the same as I. I can install it in less than a minute and have it back in my car in the same amount of time.

i recently mounted a zumo 550 on my road king and it's not at all what I would consider permanent. I think I would be a bit leary of mounting it with the suction cup for the reasons you stated.
... and welcome from Houston.
